WP Pure tungsten electrode (EWP) are basically unalloyed; it contain a minimum of 99.5% tungsten and has a very high work function. So arc starting becomes more difficult than other tungsten electrode and keeping the stable arc are not easy and it has a shorter life since we weld the metals like aluminum and magnesium. However as known to all these electrodes are the most economical and are considered good for general purpose welding. We have to be noted that the pure tungsten electrode can be only used in AC welding, however; better alternatives are available.
